Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has described the United States’ decision to launch a “maximum economic operation” against Tehran as a failed policy.
In a post on X on Thursday, August 20, Araghchi said that Washington’s insistence on pursuing such policies would fuel further hostility among Iranians toward the United States.
He said the U.S. economic campaign against Iran was designed to divert attention from the country’s own deepening domestic financial crisis.
The Iranian foreign minister accused the United States of engaging in “economic terrorism,” which he said poses a threat to the global economy.
The remarks come shortly after the U.S. government announced that it would launch a major economic campaign against Iran.
