The Central Command of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated in a statement released on Saturday morning that, in response to U.S. airstrikes, it has targeted some military bases and positions of American forces in the region.
The statement said that the United States carried out airstrikes along Iran’s southern coasts, prompting the IRGC to launch retaliatory attacks on U.S. military installations.
The IRGC also claimed that, under Article Five of the Islamabad Memorandum, the responsibility for regulating and managing traffic through the Strait of Hormuz lies with Iran; however, the United States has attempted to violate these arrangements.
At the end of the statement, the IRGC warned that if attacks on Iran are repeated, its future responses will be significantly broader and more severe.
