Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai has described reports of the mistreatment of Afghan students in Pakistan and the refusal to issue them visas as a matter of serious concern.
Mr. Karzai called on the Pakistani authorities to keep educational matters separate from political issues and to facilitate access to the necessary services and support for Afghan students.
He stated that Afghan students had traveled to Pakistan solely to pursue their education and should be provided with appropriate conditions to continue their studies.
Mr. Karzai’s remarks come amid growing complaints in recent months from many Afghan nationals in Pakistan regarding significant challenges related to residency, visa renewals, and other consular services.
