Kuwait expels two Iranian embassy staff members.

Kuwait’s minsttry of foreigns affairs,in response to the Iranian attacks, declared tow employees of the Iranian Embassy persona non grata and demanded that they leave Kuwait within the next 24 hours.

In a statement issued today (Wednesday, 3 June), the Ministry announced that the Deputy Foreign Minister had summoned Hamid Hamid Yaqoubi-Far, Iran’s chargé d’affaires in Kuwait, and handed him an official note of protest regarding Iran’s continued attacks.

The Ministry further stated that it had informed the Iranian chargé d’affaires of its decision to reduce the number of personnel at the Iranian Embassy and to designate two members of the diplomatic mission as persona non grata.

In the early hours of today, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in retaliation for U.S. attacks on an Iranian oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz and a telecommunications facility on Qeshm Island, launched strikes against the United States Fifth Fleet in Bahrain as well as targets in Kuwait.

The Kuwaiti government reported that civilian infrastructure, including Kuwait International Airport, was struck during the attacks. According to official statements, at least one person was killed and 63 others were injured as a result of the strikes.
