A congratulatory message by Abdul Sattar Mirzakwal on the birthday of Ashraf Ghani has sparked widespread and critical reactions on social media.
In his message, Mirzakwal described Ashraf Ghani as the “most educated,” “most decisive,” and “most progressive” nationalist leader, saying that he was simultaneously working to end the war, fight factionalism, and combat corruption.
He also portrayed Ashraf Ghani as someone who stood against what he called the “conspiracies behind the collapse of the republic.”
These remarks come as a number of users and critics believe that such descriptions ignore the realities of the republican era. According to them, the collapse of the former government, widespread corruption, and the political and security crises were among the realities that have not been taken into account in these assessments.
