Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid says the ongoing tensions between Kabul and Islamabad are in the interest of neither side, adding that efforts are underway to find a lasting solution to the dispute.
Speaking at a press conference on Sunday (3 August), Mujahid said that Afghanistan, under Taliban rule, does not seek tensions with any country.
He claimed that Pakistan’s policies toward Afghanistan have changed, resulting in the closure of cross-border travel and trade routes between the two countries and creating significant difficulties for traders.
According to Mujahid, Pakistan’s policies are one of the main causes of the current tensions. However, he said the Taliban are committed to resolving the situation and are working to restore normal relations between the two sides.
The remarks come as ongoing efforts to resolve the political and security tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan have yet to produce any tangible results. Previous mediation initiatives by Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and China have also failed to achieve a breakthrough.
