Taliban government Defense Minister Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid said in a meeting with a delegation from Iran’s National Security Council that Afghanistan’s territory, airspace, and borders have never been a source of threat against Iran, and Kabul has also proven this position during the recent war.

According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, Ali Bagheri, the deputy for foreign policy and international security of Iran’s National Security Council, met with Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid in Moscow on Wednesday.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 14th International Meeting of High-Level Security Officials.

During the meeting, Ali Bagheri stated that the United States and Israel are the “common enemies” of the countries in the region, adding that foreign intervention is considered the main cause of instability in the region.

He emphasized that regional countries should make decisions regarding their own security and destiny-related issues and create collective security through regional cooperation without foreign interference.

Bagheri also described economic and infrastructure cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan as important for regional stability.

According to the report, Mullah Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid also expressed solidarity with the people of Iran against the recent military actions of the United States and Israel.

IRNA reported that the Taliban defense minister also expressed condolences and sympathy over the deaths of Iran’s leader and a number of Iranian officials and citizens.

Based on the report, Mujahid called for the expansion of relations between Tehran and Kabul and for increased exchanges of delegations between the two sides.

During the meeting, which was also attended by Iran’s ambassador to Russia, both sides discussed combating terrorist groups, border security, and other bilateral and regional issues.

The Taliban have not yet provided the media with official details regarding the meeting.
