OCHA: 12.5 million dollars are needed for mine clearance and public awareness programs in Afghanistan.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has stated that approximately 14.5 million dollars are needed for mine clearance and strengthening public awareness programs in Afghanistan.

OCHA has mentioned that unexploded ordnance and mines continue to pose a serious threat to people, especially children, in various regions of the country. According to the office, the lack of these funds could slow down the mine clearance process and increase the number of casualties.

The organization emphasized that, in addition to mine clearance, public awareness programs are of vital importance to ensure people are aware of the dangers posed by explosive remnants and to prevent potential accidents.

OCHA has called on international donors to provide the necessary financial support for the continuation of this crucial humanitarian mission, so that the lives of civilians in Afghanistan can be made safer and the level of risk can be reduced.
