Reuters has reported, citing sources, that Pakistan has deployed 8,000 troops, fighter jets, and air defense systems to Saudi Arabia under a defense agreement between the two countries.
According to the report, these forces are on full operational alert, and their mission is to prevent potential attacks on Saudi Arabia and help defend the country.
Reuters says this unprecedented military move by Pakistan comes at a time when Islamabad is also playing a significant mediating role between Iran and United States.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia signed a strategic defense agreement in Riyadh in September of last year. Under the agreement, any attack on one country is considered a joint attack against both nations.
These latest measures came after Iran reportedly targeted several countries in the region, particularly Saudi Arabia, following attacks on Iran by Israel and the United States.
Pakistan had previously also condemned attacks by the Iranian government against Saudi Arabia.
