Manzoor Pashteen, leader of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), has congratulated the people of Afghanistan on the 107th anniversary of the country’s independence and emphasized the steadfast morale and determination of its activists.
Pashteen said that Ehsan Saadat, a member of the movement in Khost, was arrested by the Taliban around 16 days ago solely for posting an image of Afghanistan’s tricolor national flag on social media. He said Saadat is being held in prison under severe psychological and physical pressure.
In his message, Pashteen praised the resistance of the movement’s members and said that in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PTM members are also facing pressure and enforced disappearances by Pakistani authorities for defending their national and civic values.
Pashteen said that despite these pressures and acts of repression, members of the movement on both sides of the Durand Line have refused to compromise their national and civic values.
He stressed that such pressure and repression cannot break the morale or determination of those who support the movement’s cause.
