The Taliban Ministry of Public Works says that the minister of the ministry, Mullah Mohammad Isa Sani, has visited various sections of the Salang Highway. He instructed the responsible officials of the contracting companies to complete all planned works on the Salang Highway before the onset of winter cold.

The Ministry of Public Works of the Taliban wrote on its X page on Tuesday, 12 Jozā, that the minister, during his trip to the provinces of Maidan Wardak, Bamiyan, Parwan, and Baghlan, inspected and evaluated different sections of the Salang Highway as well as the construction work of the contractors’ camps.

He urged the officials of the contracting companies to complete all planned work on the highway this year before the arrival of winter cold.

According to the ministry, reconstruction work is currently underway in the southern Salang, and necessary machinery, equipment, and technical facilities have been deployed on site for the other two sections.

The Minister of Public Works instructed his subordinate officials to quickly start the remaining work and proceed according to the designated plan.

The Salang reconstruction project is being implemented in three sections: Northern Salang, Southern Salang, and the Doshi Khenjan route, with last year’s planned work already completed.

Contracting company officials assured the Taliban minister that they are fully prepared to begin the work.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works said that the movement of cargo and passenger vehicles on the Salang Highway is currently proceeding normally, and if there is a need to close the route or implement scheduled traffic rotations, an official notice will be issued a few days in advance.
