Following the signing of a military-technical cooperation agreement between Russia and the Taliban, a Russian official announced that companies from the Republic of Tatarstan are prepared to cooperate in the repair, maintenance, and reconstruction of military equipment currently in Afghanistan.

According to a report by Tatar-Inform News Agency, Rustam Khabibullin, head of Russia’s Trade Center in Afghanistan, stated that Tatarstan-based companies could assist the Taliban administration in repairing military equipment, supplying spare parts, specialized equipment, and vehicles.

According to Khabibullin, this cooperation could include the restoration of after-sales service and warranty centers for Russian-made equipment produced in Tatarstan, the establishment of training centers for Afghan specialists, and the launch of dealership and sales networks.

He also announced that Afghanistan currently possesses more than 100 Mi-17 helicopters, over 30,000 KamAZ trucks, and approximately 2,000 units of heavy machinery manufactured in Russia and Tatarstan.

These remarks were made following the signing of a military-technical cooperation agreement between Russia and the Taliban. The agreement was signed on 27 May on the sidelines of a security conference in Moscow.

Sergei Shoigu and Mullah Yaqoob Mujahid attended the signing ceremony. The agreement was concluded during the Moscow International Security Forum.

During his visit to Moscow, Mullah Yaqoob Mujahid emphasized the importance of cooperation with Russia, stating that Afghanistan and Russia share historical ties and that both sides seek to expand bilateral cooperation in the future.

These developments come as relations between Russia and the Taliban have experienced growing cooperation in recent years across political, economic, and security sectors.
