Following the formation of Denmark’s new government, published reports indicate that Samira Nawa Amini, a Danish politician of Afghan heritage, has been appointed Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities. She is regarded as a prominent political figure in Denmark and has previously been active in areas related to climate and energy policy.
According to these reports, Nawa, a member of the Social Liberal Party (Radikale Venstre), is set to assume responsibility for the ministry on Wednesday. However, the appointment has not yet been independently and officially confirmed by all authoritative sources.
Reports state that climate change and energy security are among the key priorities of Denmark’s new government, and that the composition of the cabinet reflects a strong focus on these issues.
Samira Nawa was born in 1988 in Aalborg, Denmark, to parents of Afghan origin. Her parents migrated to Denmark in 1986 after fleeing the Soviet-Afghan War.
She holds a degree in Economics from the University of Copenhagen and worked in various Danish think tanks and government institutions before entering politics.
In 2019, Nawa was elected to the Danish Parliament as a representative of the Social Liberal Party (Radikale Venstre). She subsequently focused on policy areas including the economy, employment, gender equality, and climate policy.
She was re-elected in subsequent parliamentary elections and has become one of the influential and active figures within her party’s leadership and political structure.
