Sadiq Khan, the Muslim Mayor of London, announced in a post on his Facebook page that he participated in the Hajj pilgrimage this year. He described taking part in this act of worship as “a great honor and a divine blessing,” and said that Hajj symbolizes equality, unity, and shared humanity.
The Mayor of London described Hajj as a profound spiritual journey and said that he would not forget people in need in London and other parts of the world in his prayers. He emphasized that the journey is an opportunity to grow closer to human and spiritual values.
Referring to the presence of millions of Muslims from different countries around the world during the pilgrimage, Mr. Khan said: “Standing in the state of Ihram, dressed in simple unstitched clothing, among this عظیم gathering, is a reminder that all human beings are equal before God.”
He also stated that Hajj is not limited to performing outward rituals, but is also a unique opportunity for reflection on faith, self-improvement, and reevaluating one’s life.
The publication of his message was widely welcomed by users on social media, and many described the experience as inspiring and as a sign of cultural and religious diversity in British society.
