Summary

Former Afghan Public Health Minister Suraya Dalil has said that the best way to honor the memory of Hasib Panjshiri is to continue the struggle he pursued for freedom, justice, and equality.

Dalil wrote on her X account on Friday, August 21, that Hasib Panjshiri’s path was one of standing up and fighting against discrimination, injustice, and repression.

Hasib, who was known as “Hasib Qoway-e-Markaz” and served as a commander of the Resistance Front, was killed on Thursday, August 20, in a special operation conducted by the Taliban’s intelligence forces in Salang, Parwan. Several of his associates were also arrested.

Dalil expressed her condolences to his family, friends, and peers, and expressed hope that the sacrifices of Hasib and other victims would become an enduring legacy for Afghanistan’s future an Afghanistan that, in her words, is dignified, prosperous, and at peace.

Her remarks come as political and military tensions continue in Afghanistan under Taliban rule, with reports also emerging of activities by armed groups opposed to the Taliban.

The Afghanistan Freedom Front has also claimed an increase in its attacks on Taliban positions and facilities in Badakhshan, saying that it captured several Taliban outposts during the attacks and claimed to have killed more than 20 Taliban fighters.
