The Taliban’s Ministry of Water and Energy has announced that it has signed a cooperation agreement worth $2 million with the Japanese organization “P.M.S.”
In a statement issued on Tuesday, 13 Asad, the ministry said that the agreement was signed with the aim of managing and developing water resources and implementing water supply projects in Spin Ghar district of Nangarhar province.
According to the statement, the projects include the construction of 10 check dams, three reservoirs, three water diversion structures, three canals, and the rehabilitation of one traditional underground water channel (karez). The projects are expected to be completed within two years.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Water and Energy said the objectives of these projects are to control seasonal floods, strengthen groundwater resources, improve water resource management, and increase irrigation capacity for agricultural land.
