In a rare and deeply emotional event, a man named Qurban, son of Kakal and a resident of Qureshi village in Darayim district of Badakhshan province, returned to his homeland after approximately 50 years and was reunited with his family.
Nearly half a century ago, Qurban left home to perform his military service. However, contact with him was subsequently lost, and no information regarding his fate was available thereafter. Throughout all these years, his family lived with the hope of his return, continuously awaiting news of their missing loved one.
According to obtained information, a local resident recently learned of Qurban’s whereabouts, revealing that he had been living in Mushan village, Panjwai district of Kandahar province. It was also discovered that during this time he had built a new life and established a family of eight members.
Following the verification of this information, arrangements were made to re-establish contact between Qurban and his original family, and preparations for a reunion were initiated. This reconnection, after decades of separation, rekindled hope among his family members.
Ultimately, after five decades, Qurban returned to his native village in Badakhshan and met his family once again. The reunion was marked by emotional scenes, tears of joy, and long embraces, creating unforgettable moments for his relatives.
Qurban’s return has drawn widespread attention among local residents, with many describing it as one of the most remarkable and human stories of recent years in the region—a narrative that concludes with the restoration of a family bond after years of separation.
