Local sources have reported that the Taliban have seized the home of Fawzia Koofi, a former member of the Afghan Parliament, in Kabul and have settled there. At the same time, three of her relatives have been detained by the group.
According to these sources, the Taliban initially detained some women living in the house and informed them that they were being pursued due to their connections and cooperation with Fawzia Koofi. These individuals were released after a while, but the detention of some of her relatives continues.
Based on available information, Fawzia Koofi’s relatives have been in Taliban custody for about four days. So far, no further details have been released regarding their situation or the official reasons for their detention.
In recent years, Fawzia Koofi has been one of the prominent figures advocating for human rights, political and social freedoms, and the status of women in Afghanistan, consistently criticizing the Taliban’s actions.
This move is seen as part of ongoing pressure on the Taliban’s critics. Previously, there were reports of the Taliban seizing the homes of other political figures, including Mohammad Mohaqiq.
Observers believe that such actions are part of the Taliban’s new approach to limiting opposing voices. Recently, some political figures, especially women, had criticized Fawzia Koofi for her family members’ travels to Kabul.
