Afghanistan, under the Taliban administration, and Uzbekistan have expanded their relations to strengthen economic cooperation. According to reports, since the beginning of 2026, the two sides have signed approximately 90 trade agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with a combined value exceeding $1.4 billion.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s National Statistics Committee has ranked Afghanistan among Tashkent’s ten most important trading partners, underscoring the growing economic ties between the two countries.

In the latest development, the Chairman of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment met with Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister to discuss ways to further expand bilateral trade. Both sides emphasized that the volume of trade between the two countries should increase to $5 billion in the coming years.
