U.S. President Donald Trump has said that Iranian officials privately apologized to him over the dissemination of what he described as “misinformation.” According to an Axios report, Trump viewed the recent message from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi positively and expressed optimism about the possibility of reaching an agreement between the two sides.
The Axios report adds that Trump, through a post on his X account, indicated that the final stages of a potential agreement between Washington and Tehran are approaching. He stated that the agreement could be formally signed by the end of this week or as early as next Monday.
Trump also claimed that Iranian representatives privately apologized for inaccurate information that had previously been circulated, describing the move as a positive development in the relationship between the two countries.
Although the precise details of the potential agreement have not yet been disclosed, Araghchi’s recent remarks and Trump’s responses suggest that diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran have entered a new phase.
