Donald Trump, the President of the United States, in a podcast interview referring to ongoing negotiations between Washington and the Islamic Republic regarding the extension of a ceasefire, stated that Mojtaba Khamenei is involved in these talks and holds responsibility for final approval of decisions.
Trump said, “They say Mojtaba Khamenei gives final approval regarding negotiations with the United States.” He also added that there is a possibility he may meet Mojtaba Khamenei at some point.
The U.S. President further stated that the Islamic Republic has accepted not to possess nuclear weapons. He described Iran’s situation as “rapidly evolving” and added that conditions “will be very good.”
Trump also claimed that Mojtaba Khamenei’s role in decision-making related to the negotiations is not new and has existed for a long time.
In another part of his remarks, he said: “It has been this way for a long time. His father and then him, but it seems we get along very well.”
Trump’s comments come at a time when official and comprehensive details about the negotiations and the roles of various individuals in these discussions have not yet been released by the parties involved.
