The Government of Turkmenistan has reviewed the progress of the TAPI gas pipeline project and emphasized the need to accelerate construction work on the remaining section of the Serhedabad–Herat route.
At a special meeting of Turkmenistan’s oil and gas sector, attended by officials from “Turkmennebit,” “Turkmengaz,” “Turkmengeology,” and the “TAPI Pipeline Company,” activity reports for the first seven months of 2026 were presented.
According to a statement issued by the state-owned “Turkmennebit” company, the meeting highlighted the importance of expediting the construction of the main Serhedabad–Herat section of the TAPI project and completing it in accordance with international standards.
The meeting also discussed further development of the oil and gas sector, the discovery of new hydrocarbon reserves, expansion of exploration activities, increasing oil and natural gas production, and improving the quality of extracted resources.
TAPI is an approximately 1,800-kilometer natural gas pipeline project that is expected to transport up to 33 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually from Turkmenistan’s Galkynysh gas field, through Afghanistan, to Pakistan and India.
