Local sources in Samangan say that two young men from the province, who were attempting to migrate illegally to Turkey, have lost their lives at the Iran-Turkey border.
According to the sources, these two young men were named Ahmad Wali and Shafiqullah, and they died (Wednesday,April 19).
The exact cause of their deaths remains unclear. Some sources suggest that they were killed in a shooting by Turkish border guards, while another source claims that the vehicle they were in was overturned while crossing the border.
The sources cited unemployment and economic difficulties as the reasons behind these young men’s attempt to migrate to Turkey.
Previously, there have been reports of Afghan youths dying at the Turkish borders.
Since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan, unemployment in the country has significantly increased, leading many young people to attempt to reach other countries through illegal routes.
