Summary

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that, by order of Donald Trump, the blockade on all maritime traffic entering and leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas has been lifted.

In a statement issued by CENTCOM on Thursday evening (28 Jowza), it is stated that U.S. forces will no longer prevent ships from entering or leaving Iranian ports.

CENTCOM said: “All U.S. military efforts to enforce the blockade have ceased. Our major naval vessels will remain in the region to ensure that all aspects of the agreement are observed, implemented, and enforced with full force.”

An understanding between the United States and Iran regarding the end of the war was signed electronically last night.

The end of hostilities on all fronts, the lifting of the maritime blockade on Iran, and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz are among the provisions of this 14-article agreement.

According to reports, the Strait of Hormuz is open today, and at least three supertankers flying the Saudi Arabian flag and carrying six million barrels of crude oil have passed through the waterway.

Meanwhile, the war in Lebanon, which the U.S.–Iran agreement explicitly calls for ending, is still ongoing.

Iran has consistently stated that any peace agreement must also include Lebanon. In a note signed by Trump, explicit emphasis is placed on the “permanent end” of the war in Lebanon and on guaranteeing the country’s “territorial integrity and sovereignty.”
