Yasin Zia, the leader of the Freedom Front, has stated that religious and political revenge is unacceptable and that the prosecution of crimes should only be carried out through independent courts. He emphasized that Taliban forces, civil servants, and ordinary citizens should not be collectively regarded as enemies.
Zia also stressed the importance of holding opposing forces accountable for violations of civilians’ rights and adhering to international humanitarian principles.
He described the Taliban’s restrictions on women as a “deadly blow” to Afghanistan’s economic, academic, and social future, stating that in a future political system, women must have an effective and meaningful presence in political leadership, the judiciary, security institutions, education, the economy, and national negotiations.
The leader of the Freedom Front added that the front does not reject the principle of dialogue and considers any political process worthy of consideration if it ensures the sovereignty of the people and ends the monopoly of power.
According to him, popular sovereignty, the right to choose, the fundamental rights of women, equality of all citizens, civil liberties, and the independence of the judicial system are non-negotiable. However, he stated that issues such as the structure of the future political system, the distribution of authority between the central government and provinces, the nature of a transitional period, and the integration of Taliban members who are not accused of crimes can be resolved through dialogue and political compromise.
