According to a recent report by the Associated Press, U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly announced delays to potential military strikes against Iran; however, the ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran have not yet come to an end.
The report states that, following extensive military threats, Trump has on several occasions said that military operations would be suspended to create an opportunity for diplomatic negotiations and a possible agreement. However, these pauses have generally lasted only a few hours or a few days, after which tensions have escalated again.
The Associated Press reported that during the months of Hamal, Saur, Jauza, Saratan, and Asad of the current year, there were several announcements regarding the suspension of attacks or ceasefires. However, each time, negotiations failed, and military actions between the two sides resumed.
According to the report, the most recent incident occurred on Friday, when Trump announced, several hours after issuing strong military threats, that he had cancelled a planned strike in order to provide an opportunity for a potential agreement and diplomatic talks.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials have stated that, despite Trump’s remarks, they remain fully prepared to respond to any possible military action and that their security measures remain in place.
