The General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports under the Taliban announced that UFC-style martial arts competitions were held in Baghlan province, featuring 80 athletes from seven provinces, with the host team, Baghlan, securing the championship title.
According to a press release from the directorate, the one-day tournament was jointly organized by the local UFC Martial Arts Federation representation and the Baghlan Directorate of Physical Education and Sports in the provincial capital.
The statement added that 80 athletes representing seven provinces—including Baghlan, Balkh, and Kunduz—participated in the event.
At the conclusion of the tournament, Baghlan athletes took first place to claim the championship trophy, while Kunduz secured second place and Balkh finished third.
The General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports stated that the objective of the competition was to promote combat sports, enhance athletic performance, and strengthen inter-provincial sports relations.
