The Taliban’s Supreme Court announced the execution of flogging sentences for 30 individuals in the provinces of Nimroz, Nangarhar, Farah, and Paktika. The Taliban claims that these individuals were punished for offenses such as extramarital relations, theft, sexual relations, and violence against parents in public.
On Wednesday, the 12th of Hamal, the Taliban wrote in a separate statement that the execution of the flogging sentences for these individuals was carried out after being confirmed by the Taliban’s Supreme Court and local courts in Farah and Paktika.
In Paktika, two individuals were sentenced to two years in prison and 35 lashes for what was described as “extramarital relations.” In the Bala Buluk district of Farah, five individuals were subjected to 20 to 39 lashes for theft and extramarital relations.
