Feroz Kunduzi, a well-known artist in northern Afghanistan, has been released on conditional terms after being detained by the Taliban’s Ministry for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. Local sources reported on Sunday that the artist was held in detention for several hours.
According to these sources, after his release, Taliban officials advised him to stop his musical activities. It is also reported that his release was conditional upon abandoning music, although this has not been officially confirmed.
So far, Taliban authorities have not provided an official response or explanation regarding this incident. This event is part of the ongoing restrictions imposed in recent months on artistic activities, particularly music, across various parts of the country.
The Taliban consider music to be forbidden based on their interpretation of religious principles, and in recent months, there have been multiple reports of halting music programs, shutting down certain cultural centers, and taking action against artists. Cultural activists say this situation has led to a significant decline in artistic activities, with many artists either halting their work or leaving the country.
