Emmanuel Macron, the President of France, has stated that France, along with the United Kingdom, is working to hold meetings aimed at restoring freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
On Monday, he wrote in a message on X (formerly Twitter) that these meetings would be held with the participation of countries willing to engage in a multinational and peaceful mission.
According to Macron, this mission will be “purely defensive” and will operate separately from the parties involved in the conflict.
Macron added that the goal of the mission is to restore freedom of passage for ships in this crucial waterway, and it will be implemented as soon as the conditions are met.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the British government told CNN that London is working, in collaboration with France and other countries, to create a broad coalition to ensure the passage in this route.
The spokesperson emphasized that this route should not be subject to fees or restrictions.
