The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has stated that if the country’s ports are threatened, ports in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman will also be targeted.
The U.S. military has announced that, starting from 10 AM Eastern Time on Monday, it will halt the movement of ships to Iranian ports in the Strait of Hormuz.
This decision follows the failure of recent negotiations between the two parties in Pakistan.
According to the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA), an IRGC spokesperson said that the security of ports in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman is either for everyone or for no one.
The spokesperson called the U.S. action “illegal” and an example of “piracy,” emphasizing that vessels belonging to the “enemy” have no right to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.
