After the unsuccessful talks between the United States and Iran in Islamabad, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asim Munir are scheduled to visit Saudi Arabia in the next two days.
Geo News reported on Monday that the visit will take place at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Pakistani media stated that the trip will occur within the next 48 hours.
This visit comes at a time when Islamabad has recently hosted delegations from both the U.S. and Iran for negotiations, which began on Saturday and continued until early Sunday. These talks were the first direct meeting between representatives of the two countries in over a decade and, at the same time, one of the highest-level dialogues since the Iranian Revolution in 1979.
Despite the inconclusive outcome of this round of talks, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that it will continue its efforts to resume dialogue.
Pakistan hosted these negotiations while simultaneously condemning Iran’s alleged attacks on Saudi Arabia.
