Hamid Khorasani, the Taliban’s only commander from Panjshir, has recently announced his support for Jumma Khan Fateh, a dissident Taliban commander in Badakhshan.
In an audio clip, Khorasani accused the Taliban of ethnic discrimination and alleged that the group treats non-Pashtuns “very badly.”
He said the Taliban have attempted to disarm him and his men, but, according to him, such an effort would not be successful.
Khorasani warned that if the Taliban attempt to disarm them, “either they will be killed, or they will commit suicide.”
Khorasani’s remarks come as clashes continue in Badakhshan between Taliban forces and armed men affiliated with Jumma Khan Fateh.
