The Disaster Preparedness Authority says that in Bagrami district of Kabul, in Haji Manji township, a dangerous 100-kilogram bomb left over from past wars was discovered and successfully defused.
According to the authority, the bomb was found during excavation in a densely populated residential area and posed a serious security threat to the local people.
Technical staff from one of the demining partner organizations stated that this major explosive device was an OFAB 100/120 type aerial bomb, containing nearly 42 kilograms of explosives, and its fuse was still active.
Officials said that to reduce potential danger and secure the area, over 3,200 sandbags were used, after which the bomb was transported to a safe location and destroyed there.
