Summary

The General Directorate for Foreign Nationals and Immigrants Affairs of Razavi Khorasan Province has issued a statement urging Afghan migrants residing in Iran to refrain from participating in any gatherings, sit-ins, or public calls that lack official authorization.

In the statement, published on Friday, June 12, through the agency’s Telegram channel, authorities emphasized that under the laws of the Islamic Republic of Iran, organizing or participating in any gathering without obtaining permission from the relevant authorities is considered illegal.

The General Directorate warned that unauthorized gatherings would be subject to legal action. It also called on Afghan migrants to express their views and positions within the framework of the laws and regulations of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The statement comes after a number of Afghan citizens in Tehran previously held demonstrations in protest against the detention of women by the Taliban and the treatment of protesters in Herat.

Demonstrators gathered outside the United Nations office in Tehran as well as in front of the Afghan Embassy, which is under Taliban control. Chanting slogans such as “Education, Work, and Freedom,” they called for support for the rights of women and protesters in Afghanistan.
