Senator Jim Banks, a Republican member of the United States Senate, said that President Donald Trump’s policy combining military pressure and diplomacy has proven effective in dealing with Iran following recent incidents in the Strait of Hormuz.
In an interview with Fox News, Banks stated that if Tehran does not adhere to its agreed commitments, the United States will continue its bombings.
He emphasized that any long-term agreement with Iran must guarantee that Tehran will never acquire nuclear weapons and that the Strait of Hormuz remains open to international commercial shipping.
He also expressed support for the U.S. Department of Defense’s request for an additional $80 billion budget, noting that the United States has used a significant portion of its weapons and military resources to manage conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, and therefore needs to replenish its weapons stockpiles.
