Pakistan’s Defense Minister, Khawaja Asif, has once again warned that if the Taliban government does not heed Islamabad’s demands and ceases support for armed groups, there is a possibility of a serious conflict with Kabul.
Speaking at a session of Pakistan’s National Assembly, Khawaja Asif said that, in his view, Kabul is acting against Islamabad as part of an “Indian-style war” and that there would be no distinction between the two cities.
He claimed that Islamabad has repeatedly tried to resolve issues with the Taliban government through dialogue and has also engaged in contacts with the mediation of three countries. According to him, he himself has participated in these talks multiple times, discussing issues related to terrorism.
However, Asif added that the Taliban are not ready for dialogue, and if they do not cooperate, “the only option would be to move toward a serious conflict,” in his words.
