Leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Party, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, has once again criticized the government of Pakistan.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman stated that the closure of trade routes with Afghanistan and India not only negatively impacts the regional economy but also harms Pakistan’s domestic economy. He added that Afghanistan and India have alternative trade routes, but Pakistan is putting itself under economic pressure. According to him, “Pakistan has closed its trade routes and then asks the people to reduce their oil consumption.”
He emphasized that the government should take practical steps to ease economic pressures and normalize trade relations with neighboring countries, so that traders, industrialists, and ordinary people of the country can be relieved from the ongoing challenges.
These remarks come at a time when political and economic relations between Pakistan and its neighboring countries have faced challenges, and the effects of trade restrictions are becoming more evident every day.
