Taliban defense minister Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid says the Taliban government will not allow anyone, either inside or outside the country, to undermine Afghanistan’s security situation.
Mujahid made the remarks in a video message marking the fifth anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power. He said that the people of Afghanistan had made significant sacrifices for security, development, and freedom in the country.
The Taliban defense minister claimed that the problems previously faced by the Afghan people had been eliminated and that an “atmosphere of brotherhood” now prevailed in the country. He emphasized that the Taliban were prepared to make sacrifices to ensure security.
Mujahid said: “We will not allow anyone, whether inside or outside the country, to create problems in Afghanistan.” He added that the Taliban’s defense and security forces were prepared to defend Afghanistan in every part of the country.
In his message, he also acknowledged the economic difficulties facing the Afghan people, saying that the Taliban government was working to find solutions to the existing challenges.
Mujahid’s remarks come as five years have passed since the Taliban returned to power, while the activities of armed groups opposed to the Taliban continue in Afghanistan.
In Badakhshan, Jumakhan Fateh, a dissatisfied Taliban commander, has also been fighting against the Taliban for the past several days. So far, no reliable information has been released regarding casualties from the clashes or possible harm to civilians.
At the same time, the Taliban continue to face widespread political isolation from the international community. Russia remains the only country to have formally recognized the Taliban government. Under Taliban rule, Afghanistan continues to face severe economic difficulties, unemployment, poverty, and humanitarian crises.
