The Pakistan Army has claimed that 27 militants were killed during special operations conducted over the past 72 hours in Miranshah, the administrative center of North Waziristan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to a press release issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the militants killed in these operations.
The statement further said that the operations were carried out against militants allegedly involved in the targeted killing of civilian figure Malik Saifullah Dawar. The army claims that the perpetrators of this incident have been “punished” and action has been taken against them.
It is worth noting that earlier this month, an armed clash took place in Miranshah, North Waziristan, between militants and security forces, during which Malik Saifullah Khan Dawar, a leader of the Dawar tribe, was killed.
The Pakistan Army said that clearance operations to eliminate hidden militants in the area are still ongoing.
On the other hand, such claims about military operations and the number of militants killed are frequently made by the Pakistan Army, but the verification of these operations and the identities of those killed has not always been confirmed by independent sources.
