Pakistani sources have told Reuters that efforts to reduce tensions between the United States and Iran have not officially been halted, but recent negotiations between the two countries have failed.
According to reports, these talks reached a deadlock after U.S. President Donald Trump canceled a planned visit by his representatives and sent a message to Iran stating that if it seeks a deal, it must “directly contact Washington.”
Sources say that the lack of trust and political differences between the two sides have caused every attempt for closer understanding to be futile. However, informal channels for de-escalation have still been kept active.
Experts say that after these failed negotiations, the political situation in the region has become more complex, and the outcome of future talks largely depends on the flexibility of Washington’s and Tehran’s positions.
