Reports from Geneva on Friday indicate that an image has been obtained showing two Taliban officials at the “Meininger” hotel in the city.
According to sources, the two individuals are officials affiliated with the Taliban’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and are expected to attend an international water-related conference hosted by the United Nations in Geneva.
The United Nations is set to hold a specialized workshop in Geneva titled the “International Expert Workshop on the Development, Review, and Revitalization of Cooperative Agreements and Arrangements on Transboundary Waters.” The meeting will take place on June 22 and 23, corresponding to the 2nd and 3rd of Saratan (Cancer month).
So far, the organizers of the conference have not released the official list of participants. The conference secretariat has been asked about the possible participation of Afghan representatives, but no official response has yet been provided.
