The Romanian Parliament has dismissed the government led by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan through a vote of no confidence.
The vote was passed on May 5, 2026, in the Romanian Parliament, with 281 votes in favor, exceeding the threshold required to bring down the government. Bolojan’s government was operating as a pro-European Union coalition.
With the approval of this vote, the current government will end its term, but it will continue to function in a caretaker capacity until a new cabinet is formed. The process of forming a new government is now on the agenda of Romania’s political institutions.
