In the Netherlands, the Naranj Cultural Association commemorated the 107th anniversary of Afghanistan’s restoration of independence by holding an academic seminar and a series of recreational programs.
The event was attended by a large number of Afghans living in the Netherlands and other European countries, as well as cultural figures, writers, former university professors, politicians, and women.
Noor Agha Noorani, head of the Naranj Cultural Association, said that former Kabul University professors, writers, and politicians delivered speeches at the seminar held to mark Afghanistan’s Independence Anniversary.
According to him, Manzoor Pashteen, leader of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), also addressed the gathering online.
Speakers at the seminar discussed the life and struggles of King Ghazi Amanullah Khan, the monarch who led Afghanistan to independence, Queen Soraya, and the pioneers of the movement for Afghan independence.
The speakers also expressed concern over the lack of adequate attention to the proper preservation and protection of Afghanistan’s historical and national heritage, saying that the country continues to face political, social, and economic challenges and crises.
They emphasized that preserving the history of independence, national identity, and cultural values is important for raising awareness among future generations and strengthening shared national values.
Noorani said the purpose of commemorating national and cultural occasions is not merely to remember historical events, but also to ensure that future generations remain familiar with their history, culture, national identity, and the values of independence.
He added that keeping alive the memory of historical figures and national struggles can help further strengthen young people’s awareness of history, culture, and national values.
