A court in Chandigarh, India, has summoned Bollywood actor Salman Khan, his sister Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and executives of Style and Content Jewellery Private Limited in connection with an alleged fraud case involving nearly 30 million Indian rupees related to a “Being Human” jewellery showroom.
According to the court’s order, the individuals named in the case are required to appear before the court on October 5 of this year and submit their responses regarding the complaint filed against them.
The case was registered following a complaint by Chandigarh-based businessman Arun Gupta. He alleges that he was persuaded to establish a “Being Human” jewellery showroom based on false promises and suffered financial losses amounting to millions of Indian rupees as a result.
According to the complaint, Gupta established the “Being Human” jewellery showroom with an investment of around three crore Indian rupees and signed an agreement with the concerned company for the project. He claims that he spent approximately 10 million Indian rupees solely on setting up the showroom and sold jewellery bearing the “Being Human” brand.
The complainant alleges that the company had promised high commercial returns and full support, but after the showroom was launched, not only was the promised support not provided, but the supply of jewellery was also halted. According to him, the business suffered severe losses after the supplier’s store was closed in 2020.
At this stage, the court has only issued summons requiring the accused individuals to appear, and it has not yet issued any final ruling regarding the allegations. Salman Khan and the other accused have not yet formally presented their position before the court regarding these claims.
