Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has said that the “Islamabad Memorandum” between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States was electronically signed by the presidents of both countries, and that Pakistan has confirmed its role as a mediator.

Sharif stated that the memorandum was drafted to achieve a diplomatic resolution to the dispute between Tehran and Washington and is considered effective and enforceable from the moment of signing.

According to him, under the agreement, Iran will reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and the United States will end the naval blockade imposed on Iran.

The Pakistani prime minister further added that the official signing ceremony of the memorandum will be held on June 19 in Switzerland, hosted by Pakistan and supported by Qatar. He said technical negotiations between the two sides will also begin on the same date.

Sharif expressed gratitude to Iran, the United States, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, and senior officials of the Pakistan Armed Forces for their cooperation and role in facilitating the agreement.
