Taliban deputy spokesperson Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat says that since the beginning of the current year, 81 traders and industrialists have transferred their capital back to Afghanistan and have so far invested $68 million.
Fitrat said the investors have been provided with the necessary facilities to operate, and 288 jeribs of land have also been allocated to them in industrial parks.
According to Taliban figures, among the returning investors, one is classified as a high-level investor, 74 as medium-level, and 14 as low-level traders and industrialists.
The Taliban deputy spokesperson claimed that these investments have directly created employment opportunities for more than 4,000 people.
He added that the documents of 15 other traders and investors are currently under review and that, once the legal procedures are completed, they too will benefit from similar facilities and incentives.
Fitrat did not specify from which countries these investors had returned to Afghanistan. The remarks come as a number of Afghan traders and investors have left the country in recent years due to dissatisfaction with Afghanistan’s economic and political situation.
