Summary

The Taliban Ministry of Justice has announced that it has taken control of 151 jeribs of land in Khost Province. According to the ministry, the action was carried out after reviewing documents and records related to ownership of the land.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, August 4, the ministry said that the land documents were reviewed by the “Special Court for Addressing Cases of Usurped State-Owned Lands in the Central Zone.”

According to the statement, the land is located in Bari village, Gurbuz District of Khost Province. The Taliban said that the case was reviewed based on official documents, ownership records, property registers, and information provided by relevant government departments.

The Taliban Ministry of Justice added that, after completing the necessary investigations, the special court issued a ruling to seize the 151 jeribs of land and place it under state control.

Since returning to power in Afghanistan, the Taliban have launched a process to investigate and reclaim lands that they consider to have been illegally seized across various provinces. As part of this process, Taliban-affiliated institutions have reported taking control of a number of properties and residential developments.
