The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has released seven police officers who were abducted from the Sararogha subdivision of South Waziristan following mediation by a local tribal jirga.
Police sources said that after the incident, tribal elders initiated negotiations with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to secure the release of the abducted officers. As a result of the talks, all seven hostages were safely returned to their respective areas.
The sources added that no official details have yet been released regarding the terms and conditions of the agreement that led to their release.
According to reports, Ahmad Shah, a police officer from Sararogha, had traveled with a bomb disposal unit to the Partagi area to defuse explosive devices. However, while returning, he and his team were abducted by armed militants in the Bangi Wola area.
Some sources have claimed that the officers were released in exchange for the release of several TTP prisoners. However, Pakistani authorities have not confirmed the claim.
