The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban has expressed its condolences over the deaths of 34 miners following a methane gas explosion at a coal mine in the Sorenj area of Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
In a statement issued on Friday, the ministry extended its sympathies to the families of the victims, prayed for God’s mercy upon those who lost their lives, and wished a swift rescue and full recovery for the injured and those still trapped.
The Taliban said they stand in solidarity with the victims of the incident, noting that rescue operations remain underway at the site and efforts to locate those reported missing are continuing.
The incident occurred on the 8th of Asad (July 30) near the city of Quetta, when a methane gas explosion struck a coal mine in Sorenj. The blast caused part of the mine to collapse, killing dozens of miners and leaving several others trapped beneath the rubble.
